What information does ETS Canada collect?
When you take a test, you may be asked for personal information such as mailing address, native language, native country and date of birth. Aggregate information about test-takers may be used for research purposes, but will not include personal identification information. ETS Canada does not sell or distribute its client list to any outside party.
For the improvement of customer service, the ETS Canada website makes use of cookies, which automatically collect anonymous user data. A cookie is a small text file containing a unique identification number that his transferred from a website to the hard drive of your computer, allowing the site administrator to identify your computer and passively track its activities on the website.
We may use cookies to temporarily store some personal information, such as your password so that you don’t have to re-enter it each time your visit our site. Cookies, by themselves, cannot be used to disclose your individual identify. This personal information identifies your browser, but not you, to our servers when you visit our site. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies, but you can set your browsers to refuse cookies. However, if you do not accept cookies, you may have limited access to some areas of the ETS Canada site.
Credit card information entered on the ETS Canada site is kept strictly confidential. In order to protect your credit card information, the ETS Canada store runs on a secure server.
Are my results confidential?
We do not provide your score or personal information to outside parties. Only ETS Canada and the testing site have access to your score results. We will only send your results to another organization (professional licensing body or employer) with your consent.
After you have taken a test, your results will be sent to you. We cannot provide test scores over the phone in order to protect your confidentiality. If you request the Premium Pack for the TOEIC test, we will email you a password to access our secure site where you will be able to view your test score.
Does ETS ever destroy information from test-takers?
Yes. Your answer sheet is kept for two years so that you can request that it be rescored for a fee. After two years, your answer sheet is shredded. You can order copies of your test results for two years after the test date. After two years, your test results are purged from our database and we cannot issue copies of your results.
Your consent
By using the ETS website, or by taking an ETS test, you consent to the terms stated in this Privacy Policy. You also consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as disclosed in this policy.
Access to information
You have the right to request the information that ETS has collected and stored about you. If there are errors in the information, you may ask that it be changed.
In order to access this information, you must put your request in writing to the Privacy Officer listed below. Please allow four weeks for a response.
For test-security reasons, information relating to the scoring of your test may be excluded from this access.
