Use Your TOEIC Score on Your Resume

You can demonstrate to employers your ability to use English in the workplace by including your TOEIC score and description on your résumé. If employers have any questions about your score, they can call ETS Canada at 1-800-615-8666.

Here are the résumé descriptions based on TOEIC score ranges. Simply find your score on the chart and use the appropriate description on your résumé.

905 to 990 Professional proficiency in English. Scored — out of 990 on the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC). Rating: "Ability to communicate effectively in almost any situation."
785 to 900 Working proficiency in English. Scored — out of 990 on the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC). Rating: "Able to satisfy most requirements with language that is often, but not always, acceptable and effective."
605 to 780 Basic working proficiency in English. Scored — out of 990 on the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC). Rating: "Ability to satisfy routine social demands and limited work requirements."
405 to 600 Advanced elementary proficiency in English. Scored — out of 990 on the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC). Rating: "Can initiate and maintain predictable face-to-face conversations and satisfy limited social demands."
255 to 400 Elementary proficiency in English. Scored — out of 990 on the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC). Rating: "Speaker has a functional but limited proficiency. Able to maintain very simple face-to-face conversations on familiar topics.
10 to 250 Beginning proficiency in English. Scored — out of 990 on the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC). Rating: "Able to satisfy immediate survival needs."
