English-language testing at your school
Educational Testing Service provides the world's two leading English as a Second Language tests — the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC). For emerging learners, ETS also provides Pre-TOEFL and TOEIC Bridge.
Whatever the level of your students, we can provide testing for placement, measuring progress, and certifying English proficiency. Using standardized testing makes your job easier, enhances the credibility of your program and helps to attract new students.
ESL programs across Canada use the TOEIC and TOEFL Institutional Testing Program (ITP) tests for placement, measuring progress and certification upon exit. We work with a broad range of programs at universities, colleges, language schools, career and technical colleges, school boards and immigrant-service organizations.

The TOEIC test has changed
Educational Testing Service has made changes to the TOEIC Listening and Reading test to reflect the latest approach to good testing practice. Both the TOEIC Public Test and in-house TOEIC testing now feature the revised TOEIC test.
Test-takers will not see any difference in how their TOEIC test is scored. The test is still scored on a scale of 10-990. A TOEIC score is valid for a full two years. The TOEIC Public Test Score Report includes a photograph of the examinee, while the in-house test Score Report does not.
The changes to the TOEIC test keep the assessment aligned with the latest theories of proficiency. Current language theory recognizes the complexity of authentic language contexts. In these contexts, it is often necessary for the learner to use multiple abilities and strategies to comprehend and connect information that is heard and read. Communication in authentic situations usually requires the simultaneous engagement of lexical, grammatical, phonetic and pragmatic language abilities. ETS wanted a balance between technical correctness and effective communication.
ETS Canada also has introduced the TOEIC Speaking and Writing tests. These are offered monthly at testing sites across Canada.

The TOEFL iBT test
The TOEFL iBT test has four sections – Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing – and places new demands on both teachers and students.
