Test de français international (TFI) recognized for citizenship in France
The Test de français international (TFI™) is now accepted by the Ministry of the Interior to meet the French-language requirement for citizenship in France.
The Ministry requires a Listening Comprehension score of 160 points out of 495 (equivalent to a B1 on the Common European Framework of Reference scale).
Candidates can take the test in Canada at monthly TFI Public Test sessions . ETS Canada has testing sites in Montreal, Laval, and Jonquière in Quebec. There are also sites in Vancouver, Edmonton, Regina, Winnipeg, Kingston, Ottawa, Toronto and Shippagan (New Brunswick).
After each test, ETS Canada sends Score Reports directly to test-takers. These results can then be presented as part of an application for citizenship in France.
In Canada, there are two service options for the TFI Public Test:
- Service Prime Plus: You will receive 4 copies of your Score Report and 1 Certificate. You can also check you score online 5 business days after the test. Cost: $120 plus tax.
- Regular Service: You will receive 1 Score Report and 1 Certificate. Cost: $95 plus tax.
