What software do I need to take a test?

Software compatibility is primarily determined by the browser you are using. This site supports Internet Explorer 5.5 or later. Most Windows operating systems are supported, including Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP. In addition you will need Windows media player to listen to audio files.

What hardware do I need to take a test?

In addition to having a computer that supports one of the required browsers, you will need to have a color monitor capable of displaying 1024x768. For best results, use a 17” or larger monitor that supports 1024x768 resolution. In addition you will need a microphone for the speaking section and headphones for the listening and speaking sections.

Is a Microphone required for this test?

How do I check the Microphone?

Will the test work over a dial-up connection?

Tests must be taken using a broadband connection, such as DSL or a cable modem.

Will my answers be lost if my computer crashes?

No. All answers are saved each time you go to the next question. When you restart the test will start on the question that was displayed when you crashed.
